Reddit competitor monitoring that earns the mention instead of forcing it.

Reddit competitor monitoring, defined

Reddit competitor monitoring means watching the threads where people compare the products in your category. It also covers threads asking for an alternative to one of them. The point is to show up there with a useful answer. Bavior spots that comparison intent. It reads the subreddit rules first. That keeps a helpful answer from getting removed. It drafts a reply where your product is an honest fit. Where it is not, it tells you to skip.

The problem

Why do “alternative to” threads matter so much?

Because the person asking is shopping right now. And the thread outlives the moment. Google keeps finding it for months. AI answers quote it back. If you are not in it, someone else fills the gap. A rival’s happy user writes your positioning for you. Or the thread settles on three options. None of them are yours. The window opens with no warning. It closes fast. Checking by hand means you find these threads late. By then the choice was already made.

Inside the product

This is the screen an “alternatives to” thread lands on.

Watch the products you get compared to. Answer the asker honestly. Then see how much of the conversation you are in.

Looking for a Competitor C alternative that doesn't post without asking me

Woke up to three comments under my account I never saw before they went live. I want the finding part — the thread scoring, the drafts — not the posting-on-my-behalf part. What are people actually using?

Comment draft

Before you migrate, check whether what you have has an auto-publish toggle. Most of these tools ship one. A lot of them default it on. Switching costs you your account history. So it is worth ten minutes in the settings first.

If you do move, Bavior is approval-first by default. It finds the threads, scores them, and writes the draft. Nothing leaves until you tap approve. Disclosure, I work on it.

Whichever you land on, read the sub's self-promo rule before your first reply. In my experience it's almost never the tool that gets you removed — it's the pattern.

Why? Answers the actual question first, discloses the affiliation, names the setting instead of attacking the competitor.

Pricing complaints. Head-to-head comparisons. Requests for an alternative. All scored before you open Reddit. The draft answers the asker's real question. It mentions you once. It trashes nobody. Share of Reddit mentions in the subs you track. Not market share. Not flattering by default.

How Bavior does it

Catch the comparison, earn the mention.

Comparison intent becomes an answer the community keeps. Not a pitch the moderators delete.

1

Spots comparison intent

“alternatives to”. “vs”. “is ___ worth it”. That is the moment someone starts shopping.

2

Reads the room first

It checks the sub’s rules first. A helpful answer should not get pulled the minute it lands.

3

Answers the real question

Your product comes up only where it honestly fits. Everywhere else, the draft still helps.

4

You approve, it tracks what happened

Which threads, which replies, which ones stayed up. The record is yours.

Earned, not hijacked

The mention you earn keeps ranking. The one you force gets removed.

There is a fast way to get banned from competitor threads. It is dropping “try us instead” under the question. Moderators remove it. The community remembers it. Your brand takes the hit. The other way is to answer the real question well. Then mentioning your product reads as help. Bavior is built for the second way. It reads the rules and leads with the answer. Your product comes forward only where it is the honest choice.

Name the products you get compared to.

The other options

How people usually try to win comparison threads.

By category, never by brand. Each row is a question to ask before you pick one.

Honest limits

You will see “skip” more often than you would like.

Most comparison threads are not yours to win

In a normal month Bavior tells you to skip more threads than it drafts for. Plenty of askers want something your product does not do. Answering anyway gets the mention removed. It gets the account flagged too. We also cannot promise that a thread will rank. We cannot promise a reply will stay up. We cannot promise a mention will show up in an AI answer. Moderators and ranking systems decide that, not us.
